Petrie Island, a well known public beach with 7 km of nature trails winding through wetlands and forest areas is a haven for nature enthusiasts. For me, the Island's beauty, tranquility, and meditative ambiance make it a place of rejuvenation and it symbolizes resilience.

 I spent my entire childhood and teenage years in foster care. Those years as a permanent ward of the state imprinted an enduring impact on my personality, character, and sense of self. Resilience is embedded in my photography. Scenes of stillness and silence stir a connection within me, guiding my art and creativity. 

The photos in my series on Petrie Island illustrate my deep connection to this tiny, beautiful wilderness. Each photo in the series is a result of hours spent walking the Island alone, but yet, when I am on the Island I am never lonely. Petrie Island has become the adopted home I was denied as a child.
